Dog Sneezing
There are many reasons why dogs sneeze: allergies; inhalation of fumes, or caustic or acid dust; nasal parasites; foreign bodies such as from the weed, foxtail, or a bit of grass; and tumors.
Among nasal parasites a dog may contract is one called the nasal mite (pneumonitis caninum). Dichlorvos is a gas that impregnates the plastic strips used to kill flying insects and is available from hardware and even grocery stores. In preparation, she placed the plastic bar on a chair. Both dogs approached and smelled it – and hundreds of insects crawled out of their noses. The dogs were cured by placing them in a small room with the exposed insecticide plastic strip every night for two weeks.
A nosebleed can be both the cause and effect of sneezing. It is frequently produced by long, continuous, and violent sneezing. Many dogs sneeze so violently that they bump their noses on the floor or ground sharply enough to cause bleeding from the injury. Nose bleeds may also be due to tumors.
In mild cases of sneezing or nosebleed, the administration of a sedative will allow the dog to rest and promote healing. Stopping the sneezing permits dogs to have relief. The use of ice packs is helpful. Injecting ice water or drugs directly into the nasal passages, however, is likely to cause worse sneezing. If nosebleeds cannot be controlled by any of these methods, your veterinarians may examine the area with special instruments with the dog under anesthesia.
A dog can sneeze due to several reasons. The following are the reasons behind the sneezing of dogs.
